A woman has died after a horror crash involving up to seven vehicles, with two others taken to hospital.

Police say at about 7.15pm on Monday, the driver of a car travelling along High St in Reservoir, about 13km north of central Melbourne, lost control.

The vehicle crashed into several cars, which police say caused a “number of concertina and other collisions”.

The female driver died at the scene, and two others were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A number of others were treated on the scene by emergency services.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing, but anyone who witnessed the collision is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
