In a heartfelt interview with TVC, the mother of the late singer, Mohbad, has finally opened up about her son’s fears prior to his tragic death.

Dispelling rumors of their strained relationship, the mother of two disclosed that Mohbad had generously provided for her. He had bought her a new house in Ikorodu, which he frequently visited, as well as a shop. He also contributed money for her to purchase freezers and a generator. Furthermore, he had intended to gift her with N5 million before his untimely demise.

Despite these acts of kindness, the singer’s mother admitted that she refrained from disclosing her relationship to him out of concern for her safety. Mohbad had expressed worries that revealing their connection could potentially result in her kidnapping or harm.

Expressing apprehension about returning to her house in Ikorodu, she shared plans to rent out the shop instead.

Regarding Mohbad’s life, his mother recounted that he lived in constant fear and was unable to fully enjoy himself. She believed that the attacks on him had ceased until he released his EP, which resulted in him being brutally assaulted.

She revealed how she accompanied him to the police station on two occasions to report the incidents but unfortunately, no action was taken.

Two days prior to his death, Mohbad had implored his mother to stay with him, but she declined as she had missed church service for two weeks and desired to attend. This decision weighed heavily on her as it was the church that finally convinced her son to allow her to leave.

Sharing some poignant quotes from Mohbad’s mother:

“I don’t tell people I’m Mohbad’s mother because he was scared I might get kidnapped or killed. I’ve been living in the new house he rented for me for only five months, and he has visited me three times. He wanted to bring me out of my previous living situation and relocate me to Ikorodu so that he could visit me more often.”

“He recently rented a large shop consisting of three units for me, but I have yet to open it. He gave me money to purchase two large freezers and a big generator. Just before he passed away, he promised to send N5 million so that I could stock up on goods.”

“His wife said she would come and meet me. She advised me to find someone who could support me since we couldn’t purchase all the goods at once. She estimated that it would take us three days to complete the purchase.”

“However, I am now afraid. I cannot return to Ikorodu. I called someone to help me rent out the shop and give me the money. My son did not enjoy himself; he lived in fear.”

“Every time I visited him, we would sit together, and then I would accompany him upstairs to sleep, but he would shake his head. I thought the problems and attacks had ceased, but when he was beaten again recently after releasing his EP, I realized these people hadn’t left him alone.”

“He always went to the police station to report these incidents because I witnessed it twice myself.”

“I spent 10 days with him, unaware that he was going to die. I left on Saturday, and he passed away on Monday. I left because he had a show, but he pleaded with me not to go. Eventually, I informed him that I needed to attend church on Sunday as I had missed it for two weeks and felt lost without it. It was mentioning the church that convinced him to let me go.”

“During our conversation, he and his wife were joking around. I told him I was leaving, and to delay my food allowance, he knew that would make me stay. Usually, he gives me a monthly allowance for food.”
