In a recent revelation, Richarlison, the striker for Tottenham Hotspur, shared that his tears on Brazil’s bench last week were due to personal issues unrelated to football.

Richarlison also stated that he plans to seek help from a psychologist upon returning to Tottenham.

During Brazil’s 5-1 victory against Bolivia on Friday, the former Everton star was seen crying while sitting on the bench.

Initially, it was assumed that the 26-year-old was upset about missing a close-range shot against Bolivia, as he has not scored a goal in his last five appearances for Brazil.

However, Richarlison clarified that off-field problems contributed to his struggles on the field.

“That sad moment [on Brazil’s bench] was not solely because I played poorly. In my opinion, I didn’t have a bad game in Belem. It was more of an emotional outburst related to things happening off the field, which were beyond my control but involved people close to me,” Richarlison stated, as quoted by Metro UK.

“Upon my return to England, I will seek psychological assistance from a professional to work on my mental well-being. That’s the plan, to come back stronger,” he added.

He further explained, “I have gone through a tumultuous period in the last five months outside of football. Now, things have settled at home.

“Individuals who were solely interested in my money have distanced themselves from me. With things falling into place, I’m confident I’ll regain my form at Tottenham and make things happen once again,” Richarlison concluded.
