Born Robert Hepler Lowe on March 17, 1964 in Charlottesville, Virginia, Barbara Lynn (née Hepler), Robert Lowe’s mother, was a schoolteacher and her father, Charles Davis Lowe, was a lawyer. He completed his high school education at Santa Monica High School.

He started performing in the 1980s as one of the main members of the “Brat Pack”, a group that also included Demi Moore and Charlie Sheen. Rob Lowe made his big screen debut when he starred in the 1983 film The Outsiders. He received his first Golden Globe nomination for his role in the 1983 TV movie Kid’s Thursday. This was followed by several other important roles that made Lowe one of the best heartbreakers of the 80s.
