BIOGRAPHY
Nigel John Dermot Neill was born on September 14, 1947 in Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom.

His family moved to the south of the island of New Zealand in 1954. He studied at the University of Canterbury. He then went on to study English literature at the University of Canterbury, where he had his first exposure to acting. He moved to Wellington to continue his tertiary education at Victoria University, where he graduated with a degree in English literature. He worked in New Zealand theaters.

He was a film director, editor and screenwriter for the New Zealand National Film Unit for six years. His first film wasSleeping Dogs. He then moved to Australia and his performanceMy Brilliant Careerwas accepted in London by British actor James Mason, who had a role inThe Omen III: The Final Conflict.

Neill later moved to England, where he was famous for Reilly: Ace of Spies . At the end of the 80s he went to Australia. He now he makes movies all over the world. In 1993, he achieved great critical and commercial success with Jurassic Park and The Piano . He received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for the NBC miniseries Merlin . Neill married makeup artist Noriko Watanabe in 1989 and they have a daughter . In early 2018, Neill was reported to be in a relationship with Australian journalist Laura Tingle.
