As she departs from Barcelona for good following her separation from Gerard Pique, Shakira was visibly emotional at the airport bidding farewell to her friends and family.
The 46-year-old Colombian singer is reportedly relocating to Miami after allegedly being served an “eviction notice” by her ex-partner’s father, Joan Pique.
According to Spanish media, the singer received an email from Pique’s father on March 13, requesting her to vacate the former couple’s residence by April 30 or compensate for the stay.
The house, where Shakira famously installed a witch on the balcony in an apparent reference to Pique’s mother who resides next door, was initially co-owned by the former couple before Joan Pique became the sole shareholder post his son’s split from the singer.
Currently, Pique, 35, is romantically involved with 24-year-old Clara Chia Marti.
Clad in double denim and looking tearful at the airport, Shakira embraced her friends and family before boarding her private jet.
The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer was accompanied by her two sons Milan, 10, and Sasha, 8, who are rumored to commence schooling in America by April 11.
On Sunday, April 2, Shakira took to Twitter to announce her departure, stating: “I settled in Barcelona to provide stability for my children, which we are now seeking in a new corner of the world alongside family, friends, and the sea.
“Today, we embark on a new chapter in pursuit of our happiness.
“Thanks to all who supported me, wiped my tears, inspired me, and aided in my growth.
“Gratitude to my Spanish fans who have always shielded me with their love and loyalty.”
Sharing a photo of the plane’s wing as she left the Catalan capital, she added, “But things don’t always unfold as we envisioned.
“At times we run, but we don’t reach.
“Never doubt that I’m going to be here.”
