Star Citizen – A Space Odyssey

Step into the boundless expanse of space with Star Citizen, a grand multiplayer space simulation game that combines trading and combat in a futuristic setting. Crafted by Cloud Imperium Games exclusively for Microsoft Windows, this project is spearheaded by the talented director, Chris Roberts.

Debuting in September 2012 with a private crowdfunding page, Star Citizen swiftly gained vast support. Transitioning to Kickstarter raised over US$2 million, propelling it into full-scale production by 2011, promising a stellar journey ahead.

While criticism surrounds its extended development and elusive release date, the game’s incremental modules since 2013 offered players a taste of the gameplay mechanics. Despite facing delays, Star Citizen has broken crowdfunding records, amassing over US$500 million by September 2022.

Not solely reliant on crowdfunding, Cloud Imperium Games secured a hefty US$63.25 million in external investments by March 2020 to bolster its vision.

Branching from Star Citizen is Squadron 42, evolving into a standalone single-player campaign, enriching the immersive universe with compelling narratives.

These changes aim to make all materials more lucrative and enhance the overall mining experience.

Ship Mining

Resource distribution has been overhauled to create a more structured spread of minerals across Stanton. Different locations on each planet or moon now contain specific resources, rather than a random assortment. There are now defined “standard” resources in every minable, with the chance for other elements to appear. This updated distribution also influences trading options and refining capabilities. All mining equipment, including gadgets, heads, and sub-items, has undergone rebalancing for stats, costs, and efficiencies. Each item related to the mining process has been tailored to target specific resources, depending on the Mining Head setup. Balancing adjustments have been made for multi-crew mining, with improvements for the Mole and consequences for the Prospector when using multiple lasers on the same rock.
