A plastic storage bin and its contents that caught on fire Saturday night in a Kihei Villages unit caused an estimated $50,000 in damage to the unit and property, fire officials said Monday.

The 7:53 p.m. Saturday alarm sent Kihei and Wailea fire crews to 140 Uwapo Road in Kihei. The fire, which was on a second-floor patio, was put out prior to their arrival; the occupant had used a fire extinguisher to put out the blaze.

There were no injuries, fire officials said.
