This weekend, local casinos are expecting their sports books to be extremely busy.
A number of factors are contributing to the uptick in betting for this weekend both locally and nationally.
"The mainstream acceptance of sports betting has gotten the casual bettor into it, the Niners being in it is a very big deal, the Super Bowl being in Las Vegas, obviously is a huge deal for the state of Nevada," said Christopher Abraham, Senior Vice President of marketing for the Grand Sierra Resort.
Some local casinos are expecting this to be the busiest weekend of the year and one casino is already seeing business ramp up.
"Definitely see a 25 to 50 percent foot traffic increase, as well as our gamers will pick up by about 12 and a half percent, so we're really anticipating a high volume weekend and it's already starting as of today," said Dorothy Loeffler-Claypool, assistant manager of JJ's Sports and Spirits.
If the sports books predictions are correct, this weekend could be the biggest betting weekend in Nevada history.
