Breaking records, Canadian singer The Weeknd has achieved a historic feat by becoming the first artist to exceed 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify. This milestone comes shortly after the release of a remix of his single “Die for You” with Ariana Grande.
Confirmed by the digital music service on Monday, this achievement places him significantly ahead of Miley Cyrus with 82.5 million listeners, Taylor Swift with 80.3 million, and rapper Drake with 68.6 million, as reported by Billboard.
His latest collaboration with Grande, which quickly gained popularity among fans, marks the fourth time the two artists have teamed up on a song.
Following this milestone, The Weeknd also recently released his televised concert, “Live at SoFi Stadium,” showcasing one of his sold-out performances in Los Angeles.
Throughout his career, the Canadian singer has amassed four Grammy Awards, 20 Billboard Music Awards, and received nominations for an Oscar and an Emmy.
In 2021, the Toronto-based musician’s hit single “Blinding Lights” made history by being the first song on the Billboard Hot 100 to maintain a Top 10 position for an entire year.
Prior to this, the energetic track by the artist, whose full name is Abel Tesfaye, had previously set a record by remaining in the Top 5 for 43 weeks.
