Tory Lanez has submitted an appeal three months following his conviction for shooting Megan Thee Stallion. In December 2022, Lanez was found guilty of shooting Megan after a verbal confrontation outside Kylie Jenner’s residence in July 2020. He faced charges of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Lanez’s criminal defense lawyer, Jose Baez, argued that the conviction should be overturned because the trial presented “irrelevant evidence.” Baez contended that a photo of Lanez holding a gun to his chest was used to emphasize his fondness for weapons, and it was a “reversible error” for prosecutors to threaten to present Lanez’s rap lyrics to the jury.

Moreover, Baez objected to the jury hearing an 80-minute interview conducted by prosecutors with Megan’s friend, Kelsey Harris, who was present in the vehicle during the shooting incident.

Lanez, who had consistently maintained his innocence, had previously pleaded not guilty to the charges. The rapper faced a potential 22-year prison sentence and the possibility of deportation to Canada. His sentencing was scheduled for April 10.
