The long-standing rivalry between actors Toyin Abraham and Funke Akindele has finally come to an end. For years, there have been reports of competition between them, especially with regards to having the highest-grossing movies at the box office.
This rivalry was evident when both actresses chose the same release date for their movies, September 10, 2021. Toyin Abraham released ‘Ghost and the tout too’ in cinemas, while Funke Akindele released ‘Omo Ghetto the saga’ on Netflix.
At one point, Iyabo Ojo fueled the rivalry by accusing Funke Akindele of sponsoring an online movie platform to give Toyin Abraham’s movies bad reviews.
The rivalry escalated in 2022 when both actors boasted about the success of their respective movies at the Nigerian box office, causing tension among their fans and colleagues.
However, it seems that Toyin Abraham and Funke Akindele have now made amends. They reconciled on Instagram, with Toyin Abraham posting a photo of Funke Akindele to celebrate her 46th birthday and exchanging pleasantries. Funke Akindele acknowledged the post by reposting it on her Instagram page.
According to a source, actress and single mom of two, Iyabo Ojo played a pivotal role in bringing about reconciliation between Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham. Since resolving their own issues in the past, Iyabo Ojo’s friendship with Funke Akindele has continued to strengthen.
A close source revealed, “After Iyabo Ojo settled her own issues with Funke, it was only logical for her to advise Toyin to do the same so that she wouldn’t be caught in the middle.”
