An Iranian schoolgirl, Asra Panahi, 16, reportedly met a tragic fate after a grave incident at Shahed girl’s high school. The authorities are accused of subjecting her to brutal beating, ultimately resulting in her untimely death. This alleged beating took place following the refusal of the pupils to sing an anthem honoring supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as reported by Mail Online.
It is stated that Panahi and a group of girls resisted the demand to sing the pro-regime anthem, leading to the authorities resorting to physical violence and hospitalizing them. Sadly, Panahi succumbed to her injuries and passed away.
This distressing incident has fueled anger and furor throughout the country, which is already grappling with violent unrest for the past five weeks. The unrest was initially sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini, 22, who died in custody after being arrested by the morality police over her ‘inappropriate clothing’.
While Iranian authorities have denied responsibility for Panahi’s demise, her uncle proclaimed on state TV that she had actually succumbed to a congenital heart condition.
In a separate but similarly distressing incident, Sarina Esmailzadeh, a 16-year-old girl, was allegedly beaten over the head with batons during a protest in Karaj on September 21. Despite the allegations, Alborz Province Justice Department chief Hossein Fazeli claimed that the teenager had tragically taken her own life by jumping from her neighbor’s rooftop.
