This week the Truckee Police Department and Nevada County Probation Department carried out a town-wide sex offender compliance check.

The check, dubbed "Operation Jeepers Creepers," found two offenders who were in violation of a California law requiring people convicted of certain sexual offenses to register as sex offenders with law enforcement where they choose to live.

Those people were taken into custody on felony charges, according toa post on the Truckee Police Department Facebook page.

Rogelio “Tata” Espinoza Jr., was arrested for violating his terms of registration by providing a false address of record. Adrian Frutos, was arrested for violating his terms of registration pertaining to school campus disclosures and providing false information during registration. All other offenders contacted were found to be in compliance with California law. With Halloween quickly approaching, the Truckee Police Department is encouraging the community to take full advantage of the California Megan’s Law Website in order to better familiarize themselves and loved ones with the sex offenders living in the Truckee area.
