BIOGRAPHY
Vanessa Aspillaga moved to New York City at 17. Her first professional acting job was playing Marie in the film Mr. Wonderful (1993) directed by Academy Award winner Anthony Minghella. At the same time, she auditioned and was accepted into The LAB (Latin Actors Base) now known as the LAByrinth Theater Company. In 2003, she made her Broadway debut in the role of Marela opposite Jimmy Smits in the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Anna in the Tropics , written by Nilo Cruz and directed by Emily Mann. During her career she combined theater, film and television, which is why she also acted in numerous films and television programs such as the series Law and Order , a series where she played the role of detective Carla Sanchez between 1996 and 2008, and the comedy romantic A glorious awakening (2010). In 2019, Vanessa appears in Hustlers of Wall Street , a film starring Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Lili Reinhart and Keke Palmer.
