Austin Dillon was born on April 27, 1990, in Lewisville, North Carolina, to Tina Dillon and a family with a racing history. While his father, Mike Dillon, was a NASCAR Busch Series race car driver, his brother, Tyler “Ty” Dillon, was also into the same sports.

Considering the home he was raised in, Austin’s childhood was dominated by cars and the track. He attended Forsyth Country Day School before moving on to High Point University to major in communications part-time.

Career

Austin began his career as a racer in 2005. In 2008, he was named Rookie of the Year at the NASCAR Camping World East Series and, soon, with his grandfather’s team.

Years later, he has a number of accomplishments to show for it, including the NASCAR World Camping Series Truck Series title in 2011, the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2013, the Daytona 500 pole in 2014, the Coca-Cola 600 in 2017 and the 2018 Daytona 500.

More so, as at the start of the second half of 2018, Austin has 2 career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series wins, 3 poles and 28 top ten finishes; 8 wins, 17 poles and 100 top ten in the NASCAR Xfinity Series; and 7 wins, 13 poles and 48 top ten. In the NASCAR Pinty’s Series, Dillon recorded 1 top ten with no pole or win.

While RCR is the team he has raced the most for, he has also raced for Curb Racing, Phoenix Racing and Stewart-Haas Racing, among others.

Whitney Ward holds a degree in communications major and marketing minor from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. She was a cheerleader and captain when she was a student, and upon graduation she was named the Tennessee Titans cheerleaders.

A year after their engagement, the RCR driver chose Whitney Ward as his bride at an event at Childress Vineyards in North Carolina. It was precisely December 9, 2017.
