The aim of Egypt midfielder Ahmed ‘Trezeguet’ Hassan is to secure an eighth title for the Pharaohs at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, extending their record as the most successful side in the tournament’s history with seven titles. Egypt has been drawn in Group B alongside former champions Black Stars of Ghana, Black Mambas of Mozambique, and Blue Stars of Cape Verde.
Trezeguet expressed the challenging nature of their group, emphasizing the strength of all African teams and their goal to approach every match as a final. The Pharaohs are set to begin their campaign against Mozambique on Sunday, 14 January, followed by a match against Ghana four days later, and their last group fixture against Cape Verde on 22 January.
