David Moyes Wiki Biography
David William Moyes /mɔɪz/ (born 25 April 1963) is a Scottish football manager and former player. He is currently the manager of Real Sociedad. Moyes was previously dismissed by Manchester United in April 2014, less than 10 months after succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson. Earlier in his career, he managed Preston North End and Everton. Moyes received the League Managers Association Manager of the Year award in 2003, 2005, and 2009. He is also a member of the League Managers Association committee in an executive capacity.
Moyes had a successful playing career, making over 540 league appearances as a centre-half, starting with Celtic and winning a championship medal. He also played for Cambridge United, Bristol City, Shrewsbury Town, and Dunfermline Athletic before retiring as a player with Preston North End. He later became a coach at Preston and eventually took over as the manager in 1998, subsequently leading the team to the Division Two title in 1999-2000 and to the Division One play-off final in the following season.
In March 2002, Moyes became the manager of Everton, and during his tenure, the club qualified for the preliminary stages of the UEFA Champions League in 2005 and reached the 2009 FA Cup Final. His achievements at Everton garnered praise from notable figures such as Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsène Wenger, and Kenny Dalglish, as well as members of Parliament. However, he also received criticism from fans, earning the nickname “Dithering Dave” during his time at Everton.
