Josh Zanoff Obituary, Death – We regret to inform you of the untimely death of Joshua Zanoff, 48, of Charlottesville, VA, on May 24, 2022. Josh Mitnick, the adored son of William Zanoff and Audrey (Macks) Mitnick, was born on December 12, 1973 in Washington, DC. Lily, his daughter, survives him. Josh was a fantastic chef who had studied at the Culinary Institute of America and made a name for himself in the Charlottesville restaurant scene. His greatest source of pride, joy, and accomplishment was his daughter Lily, whom he adored. Josh was a loving parent, and Lily was his entire world.

He would be eternally grateful to Genevieve Story for their beautiful daughter. Josh cherished every second he spent with Lily. Josh, who was always seen wearing a Grateful Dead t-shirt, formed many deep friendships with everyone he met thanks to his big laugh, sense of humour, and generosity. We will miss his presence and spirit for the rest of our lives. Josh is also survived by his mother, Audrey Mitnick (Michael), his father, Bill Zanoff (Elizabeth), his brothers, Maury Zanoff (Karen) and Jon Zanoff (Maria), his niece Olivia Zanoff, and his nephew Cole Zanoff. Matthew Zanoff, his brother, predeceased him.

He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and life-long acquaintances he considered family, all of whom will miss him terribly. Josh will be laid to rest at Judean Gardens, 16225 Batchellors Forest Road, Olney, MD, on Tuesday, May 31 at 1 p.m. Shiva will be conducted at Bill and Elizabeth Zanoff’s house on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by a Minyan ceremony at 7 p.m. Donations to Lily’s college fund can be donated in lieu of flowers by contacting Bill Zanoff. Sagel Bloomfield Danzansky Goldberg Funeral Care is in charge of the arrangements.
