Kelis expressed strong disapproval towards Beyonce, accusing her of “theft” for sampling her song in an upcoming album.
Prior to the release of Beyonce’s “Renaissance” album, several of her tracks were leaked.
The track “Energy” by Beyonce contains a sample from Kelis’ “Get Along With You,” a production by The Neptunes for Kelis’ 1999 debut album.
After this information was shared online by a fan account dedicated to Kelis, the singer took to Instagram to express her surprise at Beyonce using her song without her knowledge and without seeking permission.
Kelis made these comments using her celebrity chef account @bountyandfull.
She explicitly labeled Beyonce’s actions as “theft” and accused her of displaying “disrespect” and “utter ignorance.”
