Many fans, chanting “Messi! Messi!” filled the DRV PNK stadium to show their support. Messi thanked the people of Miami for the affection and hospitality he and his family have received during their time there.
Following his arrival at Inter Miami in July, Messi led the struggling franchise to victory in the Leagues Cup. However, despite his efforts, a late-season leg injury prevented him from lifting Miami from the league cellar into the MLS Cup playoffs.

In the friendly match, fans were once again chanting for him, but NYCFC emerged as the victors with goals from Talles Magno and Julian Fernandez.
