Michael Carbonaro began appearing on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 2003 as a convenience store “Magic Clerk” who performs magic tricks on unsuspecting customers and continued to appear on that show until it ended on February 6, 2014. Although he appeared in two films before his appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 2003, he only gained prominence after his appearance on that show.
His appearance on Jay Leno’s talk show opened for him and for him. He played the role of WacArnold’s Manager in episode 2.2 of Chappelle’s Show. Michael Carbonaro would star as Andy Wilson in Another Gay Movie and as a magician/rookie cop for 5 episodes of the American soap opera titled Guiding Light, in 2006. About a year later he was cast as Jeff Trapido in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2007). Carbonaro would go on to be cast as Robbie Barkley in the American black comedy God Bless America in 2011 as well as on subsequent television shows from 2010-2012; CSI: Miami (2010), How to Make It in America(2010), Wizards of Waverly Place (2011), Grey’s Anatomy (2012) and iCarly (2012).
On April 1, 2014, Michael Carbonaro started his own TV show called The Carbonaro Effect which is an American hidden camera/practical joke reality series and the TV show continues to air to this day. He had a successful career as an actor and magician, however, he didn’t always want to be those things. As a child, he wanted to be a makeup artist for horror movies and direct the special effects on the set of those horror movies.
