It has been reported that former Paris Saint-Germain star, Neymar, has dismissed allegations that he joined the Saudi Pro League for financial gain.
Neymar recently signed a two-year contract with Al Hilal, which will see him earn £129.4 million per year, averaging a salary of £2.5 million per week.
Despite facing criticism for his move to the Middle East, Neymar has emphasized that his decision was driven by his aspiration to become a ‘global player’ rather than monetary incentives.
“I have achieved a lot in Europe and enjoyed special times, but I have always wanted to be a global player and test myself with new challenges and opportunities in new places.”
“I want to write new sporting history, and the Saudi Pro League has tremendous energy and quality players at the moment.”
