BIOGRAPHY
A graduate in fine arts from the University of Minnesota, Ron Perlman began his career on the stage in New York, his hometown. It was in 1981 that he made his mark on the big screen with an almost silent role in La Guerre du feu by Jean-Jacques Annaud . His “face” made another strong impression in The Name of the Rose by the same director five years later.

In 1993, the actor collaborated with a young unknown Mexican director, Guillermo Del Toro , on the fantasy film Cronos , then followed with a small role in Romeo is Bleeding by Peter Medak . Expiatory victim of The Last Supper in 1995, Ron Perlman meets the duo Caro – Jeunet the same year in The City of Lost Children where his inimitable physique still sends shivers. Two years later, Jean-Pierre Jeunet , this time solo, called on him again to confront the monsters of Alien, Resurrection , after the parenthesis of The Island of Doctor Moreau, Frankenheimer version (1996).

More discreet in the years that followed, Ron Perlman made a small cameo for Ken Loach in Bread and Roses in 2000 and lent his voice to one of the heroes of Titan AE the same year. A year later, faithful to his directors, he found Jean-Jacques Annaud in a Russian uniform in the middle of the Battle of Stalingrad , then joined Guillermo del Toro’s universe again in 2002 with Blade II .

After a winking appearance in The Looney Tunes Take Action for Joe Dante (who had already directed him in The Second Civil War in 1997), Ron Perlman obtains his first “leading role” with Hellboy adaptation of a famous comic book by Guillermo Del Toro . In this film, he portrays, under the most impressive make-up, a demon as sympathetic as he is indestructible, working for Good. A role that he will reprise in 2006 in Hellboy 2 . He also plays the second main character of Sons of Anarchy during 6 of the 7 seasons of this popular and violent series.

After having indulged in the exercise of dubbing on numerous occasions throughout his career, whether for animated films, animated series or even video games, Ron Perlman participates for the first time in a Disney animated feature film in 2010 with Tangled , in which he lends his voice to the Stabbington brothers. He did not immediately leave the medieval fantasy universe and thus played the supporting role of The Last of the Templars alongside Nicolas Cage that same year, playing Felson, a valiant soldier. In 2011, the actor played two secondary characters in notable films: in Conan , a remake of the cult film that launched the career of Arnold Schwarzenegger , and especially in Drive , a captivating thriller that was extremely well received and directed by the very talented Nicolas Winding . Refn .

Two years later, the actor reunited with two people he knew particularly well: Guillermo Del Toro and Charlie Hunnam for the highly anticipated blockbuster Pacific Rim .
