Arsenal legend Martin Keown has praised three Gunners players for their performance in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League victory over Sevilla, stating that they truly “earned their wages.”
Keown specifically highlighted the contributions of Declan Rice, Gabriel Magalhaes, and William Saliba.
In the match against Sevilla, Arsenal secured a 2-1 win with goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus.
“The important thing for Arsenal now is that they have two upcoming home games in the group stage,” Keown told TNT Sports. “If they can get a minimum of four points from those matches, I believe they will be in a good position to qualify for the knockout stages.”
Keown further added, “Their next matches against Sevilla at home and Lens are crucial. But the victory against Sevilla is a significant one for Arsenal. They demonstrated impressive qualities. Declan Rice, who hasn’t been mentioned yet, was outstanding. It almost feels like you need two of him on the pitch; he’s incredible.”
“The two central defenders, Magalhaes and Saliba, also deserve recognition for their performance. They truly earned their wages, putting their bodies on the line and giving everything. It’s very satisfying, and I believe this win will boost the team’s confidence.”
Arsenal’s next match is against Sheffield United in the Premier League on Saturday.
