At a Black Lives Matter protest in Austin, Texas, a protester was tragically shot and killed.
The demonstrators had assembled in downtown Austin to show support for the Black Lives Matter movement when gunfire erupted on Saturday night.
A video of the incident captured protesters marching, chanting “Black lives,” and holding “BLM” banners. Suddenly, five shots rang out, causing chaos as protesters scrambled for safety.

Authorities in Texas confirmed that the individual was shot and killed at 9:52 pm. Austin senior Police Officer Katrina Ratcliff stated that the perpetrator fired from inside a vehicle.
Mayor of Austin Steve Adler expressed deep concern over the violent events, stating, “All I know is that someone dying while protesting is horrible. Our city is shaken and, like so many in our community, I’m heartbroken and stunned.”
The perpetrator has been apprehended, is cooperating with authorities, and there is no longer a threat to public safety.
