WGN TV Channel
WGN-TV is an independent television station licensed to Chicago, Illinois, United States. It broadcasts on virtual channel 9 (UHF digital channel 19). It is sister to Nexstar Media Group's main radio property, news/talk/sports station WGN, and is owned by Irving, Texas-based Nexstar Media Group. WGN-studios TV's are on West Bradley Place in Chicago's North Center neighborhood (making it the city's sole major commercial television station based outside the city's downtown business core); its transmitter is atop the Willis Tower in the Chicago Loop.

In December 2014, Tribune converted the former "superstation" feed WGN America (now NewsNation) into a traditional basic cable network, removing all WGN-TV-produced local programs from its schedule and beginning to be carried on cable providers in the Chicago market alongside its existing local carriage on satellite providers DirecTV and Dish Network. WGN-TV is still available as a de facto superstation on several providers, including numerous Canadian cable and satellite providers, even though the Chicago station is no longer generally available on conventional pay television providers outside of its home area.
