Driver's Jack can't put the idea of Babette lying on the bed with the TV on in the background out of his mind, and this causes him to violence, his concerns about his impending death set aside. Jack shoots Mr. Gray with the gun Cheadle's Murray Siskind gave him while he's in the throes of a hallucination; Jack then endeavors to make it look like a suicide. Babette comes to stop Jack, but Mr. Gray shoots them both and the three land in a hospital where German atheist nuns tend to their wounds. Babette and Jack, who have eventually let go of their anger, make up after being at odds about the Dylar situation. Being in a dangerous condition, with death at their doorstep, made them discover that their argument was nothing analogous to the relationship and family they had built together.
