A 20-year-old woman of African descent was discovered deceased by hanging in her white housemate’s garage. Although the police ruled it as a suicide, there are doubts among her friends and family.
The McKinney Police Department declared the death of 20-year-old Gloria Bambo, a resident of McKinney, Texas, a suicide after she was discovered deceased in the garage on July 12.
A statement was posted on Facebook by user Jamilla Arnold:
She stated: “Gloria Bambo, a South African citizen and McKinney, Texas resident, was found hung inside her garage. Gloria lived with her housemate, a white male, who discovered her in the garage on Sunday, July 12, 2020. Gloria went missing on Thursday and allegedly died in that garage the same day, July 9. Gloria’s body remained in that garage for 3 days, where people resided and repairs were made. No information has been provided about this. Why? We need to know what happened to Gloria?”
There have been speculations that Gloria did not commit suicide and the McKinney Police Department issued a statement on its Facebook page to refute these speculations.
“The McKinney Police Department does not usually comment on suicides or name the deceased, but due to the public nature of this case, we feel the need to address some inaccuracies.
“Numerous social media posts have speculated about the death of Gloria Bambo, a 20-year-old woman of African descent. Ms. Bambo’s body was discovered by her 19-year-old male housemate, who fully cooperated during the investigation.
“All evidence in the case so far leads investigators to believe it was suicide. The Medical Examiner’s findings are still pending, but the preliminary examination of the body has not revealed any evidence contradicting what was discovered at the residence.
“This case is still under investigation and remains open at this time. We are committed to a complete, thorough investigation of Ms. Bambo’s tragic death and we mourn the tragic loss of this promising, young life.”
The local NAACP chapter has expressed its anticipation for the autopsy results.
