A Wonga Park family estate where the owner flies a helicopter to Crown Casino is set to shatter the suburb’s price record with its $7m-$7.7m asking range.

The property at 25 Hartley Rd featuring a French-inspired mansion with a cinema, billiards room, library and two studies will top the area’s existing $6.55m house price benchmark – set by 6 Valley Rd in August, according to CoreLogic – by at least $450,000.

Set on 4.85ha of bushland and manicured gardens, the grounds include an outdoor kitchen, pool, tennis court, half-size basketball court, equestrian facilities, a two-hole golf course and motocross and BMX tracks.

The impressive home is for sale via expressions of interest by its owner, managing director of facilities management and commercial cleaning company Tradeflex.

Mr Borg formerly owned the Air Melbourne Heli-Express which provided general charter and tourism flights, worked with state fire and emergency services and transported organs to hospitals for heart transplants.

Christie’s Prestige Homes’ Sean Cussell said Mr Borg was selling the circa-2006 estate because his children had grown up and left home.

“It has its own helipad with planning permission for a helicopter to take off and land on the property, which is quite rare, and a helicopter shed,” Mr Cussell said.

An experienced helicopter pilot, Mr Borg enjoys flying guests to top-shelf entertainment and dining establishments.

“You can fly from the property to Crown Casino in roughly 12 minutes and it’s only another 5 or 10 minutes to helicopter to the Yarra Valley,” Mr Cussell said.

No helicopters would be included with the estate’s sale, he confirmed.

The house has four bedrooms, all with ensuites, and an upstairs parents’ domain including walk-in wardrobes and a balcony.

“My favourite part of the house is the undercover alfresco area with a fireplace at one end and a teppanyaki grill and barbecue at the other,” Mr Cussell said.

He said the property would appeal to buyers wanting a weekend retreat just 35 minutes’ drive from Melbourne.

The home has attracted interest from local and international buyers including Asian-based purchasers, he added.

Expressions of interest will close at 4pm on December 23.
