Footballer Karim Gazzetta dies at the age of 27 after jumping from

Reports indicate that former Swiss international footballer Karim Gazzetta has tragically passed away after allegedly jumping from a building in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

27-year-old Gazzetta was discovered lifeless in front of his residence in Mostar, located 45 miles south of the capital Sarajevo, on the morning of November 21.

Authorities are conducting an investigation, with Bosnian media suggesting that Gazzetta, who was playing for the local team Zrinjski at the time, took his own life by jumping from the building.

An attacking midfielder, Gazzetta was once considered a promising talent in Swiss football and had represented the under-20 national team four times in 2015.

He began his career in the academy of Servette FC, a notable Swiss team, and had loan spells before moving to Stade Lausanne-Ouchy and later Neuchâtel Xamax.

Following ongoing health issues that kept him off the field, Gazzetta joined Zrinjski during the summer. Despite recovering from his injuries, he only made two appearances before suffering another setback, with his last game played in a cup fixture on October 19th.

A spokesperson for the Swiss Football League expressed condolences, saying, “The Swiss Football League mourns the loss of former U20 international Karim Gazzetta, who tragically passed away in Bosnia. At the age of 27, he was under contract with the Bosnian league leaders Zrinjski Mostar. The SFL expresses its deepest condolences to the entire family and loved ones, especially his younger brother Luca, who made three appearances in the Challenge League for Servette FC in the 2017/18 season and is currently playing in the Promotion League for Stade Nyonnais.”
