DOZENS of police officers have descended on a Perth high school where pupils have been evacuated, and parents warned to stay away while an unspecified threat is investigated.
Officers rushed to Ashdale Secondary College in Darch just after 9am (AWST), and students have since been evacuated to a primary school across the road while officers investigate.
Motorists were told to avoid Westport Parade as students were evacuated.
However, WA Police told news.com.au this afternoon that nothing has been found at the school and it will be reopened shortly.
The exact nature of the threat is unknown.
A notice was sent to parents, telling them to stay away from the school.
“All students and staff are being evacuated to Ashdale PS undercover area at 8.45am,” it reads. “We suggest if your child has not been delivered to school yet they should remain with you until further notice. We will keep you informed as we receive more information.”
There was a similar incident at the high school in November last year, when pupils were evacuated after a reported threat was made just 20 minutes before a WACE exam was due to start.
