Keke Palmer has made history by becoming the first woman in 15 years to win the Emmy for Best Game Show Host.
Palmer clinched the Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Game Show for NBC’s Password. This marked the category’s debut in the primetime Emmys after transitioning from the daytime awards.
She surpassed hosts Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik of Jeopardy!, Steve Harvey of Family Feud, and Pat Sajak of Wheel of Fortune.
Palmer’s win is the first for a woman since 2009 when Meredith Vieira won for the syndicated run of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
Harvey clinched the award last year, while Alex Trebek secured it in the three years prior.
“Wow. That is so exciting thank you so much. I’m really just so thankful, I’m almost speechless. I want to thank the people who allowed this to happen, thank you to Jimmy Fallon, thank to NBC,” she said.
Palmer also expressed her excitement and gratitude on Instagram after winning the award.
