Zoleka Mandela, the granddaughter of Nelson Mandela, prepared a list of individuals who are prohibited from attending her funeral before her demise. The list, which has now been made public, includes her ex-husband, Thierry Bashala, who is also the father of two of her children. Bashala had expressed mourning for her on Instagram following her passing.
In addition to her ex-husband, Zoleka also named certain relatives who had sexually abused her. She indicated that those individuals marked with a dot (.) next to their names had committed sexual abuse against her and are forbidden from being near her deceased body.
Furthermore, Zoleka added her sisters, father, and stepmother to the list of individuals she is not close to. Zoleka passed away on September 25, 2023, after a prolonged battle with cancer. The South African author had previously overcome cancer twice before it resurfaced for a third time, ultimately leading to her demise at the age of 43. She had been treated for breast cancer in 2011, and despite its return in 2016, she succeeded in overcoming it yet again. Tragically, she disclosed in August 2022 that she had been diagnosed with bone metastasis, where the cancer had spread to her bones and liver.
Through her documented journey on Instagram, she revealed the devastating news of her condition. Zoleka left behind four children, having given birth to a total of six but losing two along the way.
