Stephen Hawking in a nutshell? GENIUS! He lived almost half his life with a progressive paralytic disease called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), but through it all this guy came up with groundbreaking inventions that would give his much healthier counterparts the chance to earn their life.
An English theoretical physicist, Hawking attained celebrity status in the 1970s after the invention of his Hawking radiation – he proved that matter, in the form of radiation, could escape the gravitational force of a collapsed star, a phenomenon until then considered impossible.
As Hawking made more discoveries, his celebrity status increased. The world became more interested in what was going on not only in his laboratories but also in his personal life. Hawking died on March 14, 2018 at the age of 76. The family did not reveal the cause of death, but said he “passed away peacefully” at his home in Cambridge, England. Let’s see some of these.
Stephen Hawking Wife Children, Grandchildren
There are many versions of the story of Stephen Hawking and his wife, especially the first, Jane Hawking. The story goes that they had met while in grad school and started dating before Hawking was diagnosed with ALS.
After the diagnosis, Jane stuck with him and even agreed to marry him, which encouraged Hawkings to make the most of the time the doctors told her to leave.
Hawking and Jane married in 1965. About two years later, in May 1967, the couple welcomed their first number, a son named Robert. Another daughter, a girl named Lucy, arrived in 1970, and their third and last child, a son named Timothy, was born in April 1979. Hawkings has at least three grandchildren.
However, by the 1980s, their relationship was no longer as rosy. Jane, who had discovered a new interest in music, had fallen in love with her organist Jonathan Hellyer Jones, but ultimately did not let her love for Jones break her marriage. Jones would later become a friend of the Hawkings, but that wouldn’t last.
In the late 1980s, Hawking developed a romantic spirit. Eliane Mason, one of his carers. As a result, he left the family home in 1990 and married Eliane the same year, after securing a divorce from Jane in 1995. However, it was reported that their union was marred by domestic abuse including Hawking was the victim. Two years later, in 1997, Jane married Jones.

The abuse charges resulted in investigations, but Hawking refused to help authorities with those investigations, preferring to keep her mother. Her relationship with her children and family also became strained.
However, in 2006, Hawking seemed to have had enough, as he and Mason quietly divorced. He then developed a working relationship with his first wife, Jane, and restored his relationship with their children.
Jane wrote an autobiography about her marriage to Hawking titled Music to Move the Stars: A Life with Stephen (1999). In 2007, the book was republished under the new title Traveling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen.
IQ
Hawking’s Intelligence Quotient (IQ) has been rated at 160. In fact, Stephen comes from a family of geniuses. Both of his parents were very outstanding in their respective fields and despite the fact that they were not wealthy, they were able to attend the prestigious University of Oxford thanks to the scholarships they obtained.
Stephen would eventually follow the same path and become even more famous than his parents. Her father was a parasitologist, while her mother’s discipline was philosophy, politics and economics.
Is he dead?
Some conspiracy theorists have argued the possibility that Hawking is still alive in his time. They speculate that the Hawking we see now is just a clone, while noting some changes, including the fact that ALS does not affect the appearance of the teeth in any way and that Hawking looks much younger than that of his age suffering from disease.
From credible sources, Stephen passed away early Wednesday, March 14, 2018. He was 76 years old and was born in 1942.
After he was diagnosed with ALS during his last stay in Oxford, doctors said the case was progressive and therefore estimated that he had about three years to live. Hawkings beat those numbers and achieved great things in life.
