He had a successful nine-season career in the National Football League(NFL), primarily known for his time with the Washington Redskins, during which he gained recognition as one of the 80 Greatest Redskins.

Despite his successful career, Portis has had financial struggles and is estimated to be in nearly $5 million in debt, owing money to various creditors, including mortgage payments, back taxes, and casinos.
