Biography of Walter Becker
Walter Carl Becker, born on February 20, 1950, is an American musician, songwriter, and record producer. He gained recognition as the co-founder, guitarist, bassist, and co-songwriter of Steely Dan. Becker and Donald Fagen, his songwriting partner, met while studying at Bard College. Following their stint in New York, they moved to California in 1971 and formed the core of Steely Dan. The band enjoyed a successful ten-year career both critically and commercially. After the band disbanded, Becker moved to Hawaii and reduced his musical engagements, mainly working as a record producer. Becker also ventured into solo work, having released two albums: “11 Tracks of Whack” in 1994, and “Circus Money” in 2008.
