The actor, wrestler, magician and businessman, Wolf Ruvinskis Manevics, was born on October 30, 1921 in Riga (Latvia). His family, of Jewish origin, fearing persecution during World War II, moved to Argentina. His father died shortly after arriving, they lived in poverty and he had a childhood with many deprivations. He excelled in sports and, in particular, showed a lot of interest in wrestling. At the age of 19 he began his career as a wrestler and toured America looking to reach the United States but ended up staying in Mexico. He fought some of the best Mexican wrestlers, such as El Santo, Black Shadow, El Médico Asesino and Lobo Negro . He was also a tango singer and magician, in 1945 he had his first opportunity in the cinema in the film Bambucos y corazónes.
Some of his best-known films are The Magnificent Beast (1953) , the first in a series of “Neutron” films, a character he created himself; Body Snatcher (1957); Fair Play (1996); Don’t defend me compadre (1949), Dizzy Sinbad (1950), The Troublemaker (1951), The Follies of Tin Tan (1952); Sleeping Beauty (1952); You bring me on a wing (1953); Three and a Half Musketeers (1957), among others. In addition to acting, he was also a businessman. He married three times, the first with Beatriz Pérez, the second with the dancer Armida Herrera and the last with the actress Lilia Michel, with whom he lived until the day of his death, on November 9, 1999, in Mexico City. , caused by cardiac arrest.
